She has worked for along time in the foreign ministry as political adviser to the foreign minister (with four foreign ministers: Sorsa, Paasio, Halonen and Tuomioja). Now she’s working in trade union side, in private service sectors union PAM, in which Tarja Halonen used to be a member of and now is a honorary member. Tarja Kantola has also been active in solidarity work like Tarja Halonen.
