Mormonism in Finland, this Monday on Radio Free Finland

Filed under: Our Guests, Upcoming Show — Radio Free Finland @ 4:21 pm

Last season on Radio Free Finland we were joined by Steven Stewart, songwriter of Finland’s Eurovision 2005 entry. This Monday we’ll be joined by Steven Stewart, Mormon. Steven learned Finnish while in the states, came to Finland as a missionary, and never left. He’ll be on to discuss his missionary work in Finland, Mormonism in Finland, and the Mormon church in general. And we’ll have a film crew from YLE (my favorite television station in the world) there to interview me and film the podcast for an upcoming programme on citizen journalism!

Tune-in Monday night for the live interview, all you need is Skype to listen-in and a micrphone if you wish to participate. If you don’t want to ask your questions live, you can e-mail us (info >>AT>> radiofreefinland dot net) before the show or send a text chat to us during the show, and we’ll read your comments live on the air.

  1. Whydoesn’t the mormon church tell people that they are a cult before they preach? Why do the upper leadership of the mormon church worship lucifer as their “god”??? That kind of “god” doesn’t love us as individuals, and he cannot set us free from our sins, he causes sin? I just don’t get why mormons can’t just worship Jesus without the mormon organization & hiarchy.God is allready hopefully in your heart? You don’t need to preach lies, when you can convert to preaching the actual truth about God.

  2. Comments like the above post just show how little people really know about Mormons.

Lucifer is the devil, not God, and is absolutely not worshipped by Mormons.

Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the saviour of mankind and that we cannot be saved without Him. The subtitle of the Book of Mormon is “Another Testament of JESUS CHRIST” and is meant to be read hand in hand with the Bible (Old and New Testaments). The official name of the church is “The Church of JESUS CHRIST of LatterDay Saints”. Not sure how someone could possibly think that Jesus wasnt the center of Mormons belief system.

Whenever you have questions, go to the source to find out what the core beliefs are.

  3. Roger surprised me with his patience and his intellectual and theological approach to Elder Woo’ s probing questions. “ From what I understand your teachings don’ t teach the Trinity and that Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit are all the same… your faith teaches you that Jesus and Satan are bothers…” Back and forth they went and I said a prayer for Roger that he would have wisdom but in my mind I couldn’ t help but have doubt. Doubt that Elder Woo was going to change his mind in just one night. For Mormons…

  4. Osmond, a devout Mormon, is currently starring in the Disney movie,“ College Road Trip,” as a nerdy father who befriends a father- and- daughter team (played by Martin Lawrence and Raven- Symone) as they set off around the country to look at potential colleges. Beliefnet recently spoke with Osmond about how he dealt with his own children leaving the nest and how his Mormon faith helped him– and the rest of the Osmond clan– avoid the pitfalls of Hollywood life.
